Description Gathaithi Coffee Factory is part of the Gathaithi Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Nyeri County. Established in 1967, the factory is supported by 1656 active members with smallholder farmers cultivating coffee on typical half-acre plots. Gathaithi sits between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare ranges. Rich red volcanic soils, cool temperatures and 1100mm of annual rainfall create strong growing conditions for coffee. Cherries are selectively handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered to the wet mill the same day. After sorting, the coffee is pulped, fermented overnight, washed, soaked, and dried on raised beds for 7 to 15 days, with regular turning and hand sorting throughout the process. This lot reflects the clarity and structure associated with Nyeri; clean, vibrant, and shaped by careful processing and smallholder expertise.
