Flavour Notes: Cherry, Hibiscus, RaspberryOrigin: cucg.service@controlunion.com, KenyaProducer: Smallholder farmers organized around the Ichamara factoryProcessing: WashedFarm: Smallholder farmers organized around the Ichamara factoryWashing Station: Ichamara factoryVariety: SL28 & SL34, Ruiru 11Altitude: 1600 - 1800 m.a.s.l.Roast Profile: EspressoRoast Degree: LightThis lot comes from the Ichamara factory in Nyeri, part of the New Gikaru Farmers Cooperative Society. Sitting on the lush slopes below Mount Kenya, Nyeri has long been celebrated for coffees with precision and depth. Ichamara brings together the harvests of smallholder farmers and applies the kind of meticulous processing Kenya is known for, resulting in the clarity and structure we love to roast.Cherry is hand-sorted for ripeness, depulped and fermented overnight, then thoroughly washed in fresh water before being channel-sorted by density. The parchment is dried on raised beds for 1–2 weeks and conditioned prior to export. It’s a careful, disciplined approach that preserves the coffee’s natural brightness and gives it an exceptionally clean profile in the cup.In the cup, expect a vivid red-fruit character: bright cherry and raspberry up front, with a fragrant, hibiscus-like florality and a long, tea-like finish. As an espresso, it’s juicy and articulate; with a little milk, the red-fruit sweetness rounds out without losing definition. We’ve profiled this as a light espresso roast to showcase that classic Nyeri transparency while ensuring it extracts cleanly and sweetly. It’s a beautiful expression of the region’s cultivars (SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11) and a testament to the care taken at Ichamara. Our job is simply to get out of the way and let those flavours shine.250g €/kg: 59.6€ | 1kg €/kg: 49.9€All coffees come as whole beans. If you need a coffee grinder we highly recommend purchasing the Fellow Ode Grinder. All prices include mwst.
