## O que a marca diz

> The Kianyangi Coffee Factory is one of 4 factories operated by the Murue Farmers Cooperative Society, an organisation representing about 950 smallholders. This is surprisingly our first Embu coffee since 2017 - this county is another of the famous Kenyan counties sitting on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, enjoying the resulting high altitude and soil advantages shared with the likes of Kiambu, Nyeri and Kirinyaga. The Kianyangi factory stands out for its modern Pinhalense pulpers - these enable the cooperative to use water more efficiently, thereby reducing the impact on the local environment. This is just part of the coop's influence on the community. Members also have access to pre-financing for school fees, farm costs and emergencies. They have built wastewater soak pits away from local water sources to allow the soil to more effectively filter the water as it returns to the environment. And farmer education and tree planting are facilitated to improve sustainable farming among members. When the coop members deliver coffee to the factory, it is hand-sorted and only ripe, undamaged cherries are pulped. These are then fermented overnight before washing and grading, after which the coffee is dried for 9 to 15 days on raised beds. It is then moved to Embu Coffee Mill for dry milling.Embu is calling you.
