Tasting Notes: Toffee, Dark Chocolate, Toasted Nuts Gateway is our third year-round product, after Arboretum and Decaf. Its name refers to the neighborhood just north of our roastery and to our mission. Small Planes exists to connect people through coffee, to shrink the distance between people along the coffee supply chain. One way we do this is by partnering with cafes that beautifully prepare our coffees to share with customers already invested in specialty coffee. Another way is by offering coffees especially mindful of the specialty dabblers, peekers-in, newbies, and passers-by. We’re happy to get philosophical about the liminality of gateways, and the thrill of exploring what lies beyond an open door, but for now we’ll just say: this is a tasty coffee! Like our other year-round product, Gateway is designed to be easy-drinking, accessible, and comforting. Its rich sweetness makes it an excellent choice for espresso-and-milk preparations, batch brewed filter coffee, iced coffee, and home brewing. While specific flavors will vary as we rotate fresh crop components in and out, the qualitative experience of enjoying Gateway remains consistent.
