They stopped for a quick purchase—and noticed the man had a bag labeled “Java.” Curious, they asked about it. The man claimed the bag held seeds of a rare coffee variety called Java.Erwin Jr. was skeptical, but the Doc felt for the man and decided to buy the seeds anyway. As it turns out, the man wasn’t bluffing—it really was the longberry Java variety. They suspect he may have once worked at a nearby coffee nursery that had gone bankrupt, a place known for its research and experimentation.And just like that, Java found its way to Nicaragua.
