CleanFunky TerroirExperimental About The Producer Daye Bensa was established as a producer in 1996 and has persevered through many challenges regarding coffee growing and exporting in the Sidama region. He actively works with various community outgrowers that bring their cherries to a central washing station such as Keramo. Processing The altitude of the Keramo site helps produce higher-density seeds. This lot is handpicked at peak ripeness and then floated to remove any defects. It is then de-pulped on the day of harvest and fermented in water for 36-72 hours before drying on closely monitored raised beds. Variety Landrace is an umbrella term that refers to all the coffee varietals endemic to Ethiopia. As the birthplace of coffee, the trees have been growing and cross-breeding for centuries in this country. As a result, there are numerous sub-varietals with some common genetics, but slightly different behavior and taste. In the last few decades, there has been an organized effort to research and identify different endemic varietals growing in Ethiopia by name, disease resilience, and yield production. Transparency We Paid $14.97 USD/KG Roasted Costs $19.21 USD/KG This is our second time featuring a lot from the Keramo site and washing station, run by Daye Bensa. This coffee highlights the sweet citrus and delicate florals we love in washed Ethiopian coffees.- Variety: Landrace - Country: Ethiopia - Region: Sidama - Process: Washed - Altitude: 2360 MASL - Producer: Daye Bensa - Farm: Keramo - Washing Station: Keramo - Roast Level: Light In the cup In the cup we taste sweet key lime pie, delicate florals, and juicy tangerine sweetness.
