Clean Funky Terroir Experimental About The Producer Bekele Kachara is a quality focused producer whose farm in Murago at 2350 meters produced the 15th place Cup of Excellence coffee in 2022. The father of 11 children from one wife, Bekele brought in his Belaye, his eldest son at 24 and fourth child, to manage his drying station in Murago where he produces natural and anaerobic natural coffee. Processing This coffee was dried on raised covered beds for 18 days, shaded at peak sun to ensure proper drying and processing. Variety The Jimma Agricultural Research Centre (JARC), one of Ethiopia’s federal agricultural research centers, approved the release of 74158 in 1979. The variety originally came out of the Metu Bishari Selections taken from mother plants from the Metu woreda (district) of the Illuababora zone. 74158 was selected and propagated for its high yield potential and resistance to coffee berry disease. Transparency Imported Crop to Cup We Paid $14.52/KG Roasted Costs $18.69/KG Our first year working with Bekele Kachara's coffee, this is a sweet and juicy lot that get's us excited about Natural Ethiopia, once again.
