Region: Santa Clara, Renacimiento, Chiriqui Elevation: 1500 masl About: Founded in 2015 by Aliss Hartmann, Finca Momoto represents a new branch on the Hartmann family tree. Aliss and her four siblings were raised at Finca Hartmann, where early life was shaped by the rhythms of harvest, time spent amongst the coffee trees, and days at the mill climbing over bags of stored parchment. As adults, each of the Hartmann children assumed roles within the family business, with Aliss overseeing administration. As her own children, Giuliana and Giuseppe, grew older, she sought to recreate that same environment. Finca Momoto was established with the intention of passing on an understanding of land stewardship, respect for nature, and a grounded appreciation for coffee. The farm follows an environmentally considered approach to production. Much of the coffee is processed using the natural method, reducing water usage while allowing the character of the fruit to develop more fully in the cup. While Finca Momoto is often associated with Geisha, the farm also cultivates Typica, Caturra, and Maragogipe. This lot, a naturally processed Maragogipe, presents a clear expression of the variety’s structure and nuance.
