Ce que dit la marque

Country Colombia Region Medellín, Antioquia Producer Carolina Posada Altitude 1700 masl Varieties Castillo Processing Ethyl Acetate Drying Mechanical dryers Located just outside Medellín, Colombia is a coffee farm called Mina Rica. It is owned and operated by Carolina Posada, a young, third generation coffee farmer. The Commonplace Coffee team first met Carolina in 2023, when she wandered into our Headquarters & Roastery with green coffee samples. We immediately felt a connection to Carolina’s mission, and tasting her incredible coffee sealed the deal! This coffee is decaffeinated using an organic compound known as ethyl acetate (EA), which is a natural byproduct of sugarcane refinery. EA preserves the inherent flavor of green coffee, while functioning as a solvent. We have a unique buying relationship with Carolina and her team, who deliver their coffee to our warehouse. There is no importer or exporter, and money changes hands directly between Commonplace Coffee and Mina Rica. This form of “direct trade” is very uncommon in the coffee industry, and it is special that we’re able to spend time in person with one of the people who produces the coffee we roast. We selected this coffee to deepen our relationship with Carolina Posada. This coffee has a very classic flavor profile for a decaf from Colombia. It is soft and subtly acidic, with rich chocolate notes and a slight fruitiness.
