Process: EA Decaf 250 g whole bean coffee This decaf coffee is grown and processed by the members of ASOMUJER, a women farmers’ cooperative society in Timaná, in the Huila region of Colombia. Founded in 2007, this association now includes 75 women coffee producers, and includes activists, single mothers, and women who have been displace by conflict within Colombia. ASOMUJER works to improve economic returns and the overall quality of life of coffee growers, aligned with principles of economic, environmental and social sustainability. Composed of Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia varieties, this coffee is processed using a naturally-occurring ester (ethyl acetate) to bond with and remove caffeine from green coffee beans. After caffeine has been removed, the seeds are steam cleaned and dried to prepare for export.
