Lo que dice la marca

This is our go to coffee for dark roast lovers. It is super smooth and chocolaty. It is versatile enough for all brewing methods and it is great straight or with milk.

The Gato Negro is grown high up in the Andes Mountains along the northern most border of Peru. It is grown by a cooperative group of farmers who work together as the Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio (COOPFASI). They formed their shared equity cooperative very early on in 1969. The tenets of gender equity and the empowerment of women have always been of particular importance to their mission.

In 2016 COOPAFSI producers designed a loan distribution program as a part of the cooperative. Their loan program supports members with land improvement, livestock husbandry, home renovation and the production of local crafts. They have also built a computer lab open to all members.

As part of The Barrington Coffee Origin Certified™ Program (https://barringtoncoffee.com/how-we-do-it/the-barrington-coffee-origin-certified-program/) our Gato Negro has been certified at origin by the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) (http://www.ocia.org/) as having been produced without the use of pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers.

After repose, we seal this coffee in Grain-Pro barrier packaging in Nicaragua and then send on its way to our Roastery where we preserve the green coffee under hermetic seal until it is roasted as part of ourBarrington Green Seal Program© (http://www.barringtoncoffee.com/how-we-do-it/provenance-specific-coffee-preservation) .
