## Was der Röster sagt

> A washed SL28 & SL34 from Gaaki washing station in the highland region of Nyeri, Kenya has a sparkling acidity with juicy mouthfeel, and notes of gooseberries, currants and fragrant florals. Filter coffee:Sparkling, juicy and refreshing cup with classic Kenyan cassis notes, fragrant florals and lemon grass. Espresso:Lemon candy brightness with notes of currants and syrupy mouthfeel Cappuccino:Milk-caramel smoothness with notes of green grapes, honey, and berry tart The Producer:Gaaki washing station is located in the Nyeri highland area and is operated by the Aguthi Farmers Co-operative Society. The Gaaki factory works with approximately 150 small holder farmers around the area. Like many other co-operatives, Aguthi is also run democratically, governed by an elected board of committee members drawn directly from the local farming community. The cooperative structure allows producers to share processing space, technical training, and modern agronomy inputs that would be financially impossible to secure individually. We sourced this coffee through our friend, Phyllis Nganga, a highly prominent professional in the East African specialty coffee sector, best known for her role as a Commercial Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, and Coffee Trader, who we met on our trip to Kenya in 2023. She works extensively with cooperatives and producers to train local farming communities in sustainable harvesting, processing, and fermentation techniques. Phyllis also connects rural farming co-ops directly with global markets to improve price transparency. This season we partnered with her to represent some of the cooperatives to connect them directly with specialty coffee roasteries in our network in northern Europe. We fell in love with the natural-processed coffee from Gaaki due to it's vibrant floral and citrussy herbal notes. We hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we do.
