Coffee Story An 11-hour drive west of Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, brings you to the renowned coffee region of Guji, nestled near the border with South Sudan. Guji is known for coffees with vibrant, complex and massively sweet flavors. Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, produces some of the world's most delicious lots. In Guji, coffee even grows wild through the cracks in the concrete. Such a hospitable environment creates incredible coffees, like this Grade 1 washed coffee from Sakicha Washing Station. This is a classic example of how good Ethiopian coffee can be, with citrus-y clementine and sweet cantaloupe melon notes, finished off with a light honey and floral finish. This year, we've partnered with Nardos Coffee, a third generation family-run coffee exporter headed by Biniyam Aklilu. Nardos Coffee dates back to the 1960s, when Biniyam's great-grandfather started producing coffee in Guji. His grandfather established the region's first privately-run washing station, and Biniyam's father launched a coffee export business in 1998. Through three generations of diligence, the Nardos family has forged an incredible legacy within the history of Ethiopian coffee. Roast type We don’t label our coffee as espresso or filter.
