## What the Brand Says

> Farm: Cafe Ticuna Variety: 100% Caturron Region: Garzón, Huila, Colombia Altitude: 1,900-2,000 Meters Above Sea Level Process: Washed Harvest: September 2025 Notes: Sage Honey, apricot & orange. A rare and glowing appearance of Caturron has graced our cupping table this season. This variety, Caturron, is hard to describe, invoking wonder and curiosity. In the cup we get notes of a bright honey, citrus, lemongrass mixed with stone fruit. There are fun waves of acidity. The cup profile is a green, herbaceous and sweet. A complex and intriguing progression takes place from hot to cool. The vibrance and juiciness of this lot is undeniable. A delicious and different style of coffee altogether. Café Ticuna is a coffee project in southern Huila, Colombia, founded and co-owned by our friends and importing partners: José Jadir Losada and Kyle Bellinger. José and Kyle’s ambitious labor of love currently consists of three coffee farms in the municipality of Garzón, and El Mirador in the municipality of Suaza. Caturron is a Colombian cultivar discovered in Huila but we don’t really know where it occurred first. DNA testing results suggest it is a cross between Timor Hybrid (Arabica x Robusta) & Bourbon or Caturra. This means it is genetically very similar to Variedad Colombia but the Caturron cultivar is both different and very uniform. It has distinct oblong beans, cherries that smell and taste like tropical fruit and it is showing good resistance against leaf rust. The cup profile is also very distinct with a bell pepper like herbal character with fruity and floral notes. Hand-picked at peak ripeness. Floated to further remove defects. De-pulped. Dry-fermented in parchment for 24 hours. Washed. Dried on shaded raised beds until moisture content reaches ~10.5%. This is a professionally picked and processed lot, so clean and it is clearly exhibited in the brewed cup. Last roast: February 2nd. A few bags remaining. Shipped on Tuesdays. Our coffees are best after two weeks+ of the roast date.
