What the Brand Says
Marilec grew up surrounded by coffee. At eight years old she was already exploring the mills with her mother; by high school, she was sorting coffee part-time to cover her studies. In 2000, PRODECOOP arrived in Palacaguina and both she and her father joined — she as a sorter, he as a security guard. It was there she met Eduardo Videa, her first mentor and coffee taster, who sparked her passion for coffee. Today, Marilec and her husband Alex — also a coffee taster — own two farms in Los Planes, Dipilto, run a cupping lab, and work directly connecting clients and producers across Nicaragua. Her family's beans come from La Calera, in the municipality of Palacaguina, department of Madriz. This washed Nicaraguan is sweet and full-bodied, with a silky mouthfeel and medium acidity. Chocolate at the base, with notes of orange and florals, with a nutty and spiced finish.Marilec grew up surrounded by coffee.
