Monte Crisol offers a silky body and vibrant acidity, with inviting notes of lemonade, honeydew melon, and dark chocolate. Clean, sweet, and smooth, it makes an excellent choice for pour-over, drip coffee, French press, or espresso. SHG - Strictly High Grown: Coffee grown at high elevation, generally above 1,200 meters (3,937 ft). The cooler temperatures slow cherry maturation, helping produce denser beans and often more developed acidity and sweetness. EP - European Preparation: A careful green-coffee sorting standard, with additional screening/sorting to remove defective beans and foreign material, resulting in a cleaner, more uniform lot. Sometimes a relationship is so special that a coffee is named in your honor. That’s how Royal feels about our decades long relationship with Cooperativa de Caficultores y de Servicios Múltiples de Palmares (Coopepalmares) and the name Monte Crisol, which is a community blend exclusively exported to Royal. But there is more to this perennial relationship than just naming rights. With more than 1,400 producer-members from Palmares, a canton in the province of Alajuela, this cooperative is designed to receive cherries from many small farms and consistently process their coffee into a well-balanced regional blend. The state-of-the-art processing facility with certifications in quality and environmental management from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) utilizes recycled water and the mechanical dryers (guardiolas) recirculate airflow to maximize furnace efficiency. The facility also has an organic fertilizer production plant and a water treatment plant. Cooperative members have access to low interest loans and healthcare for their families at the cooperative run health center and mobile clinic.
